I have to agree. Water will the next oil, like it or not. Wars will be fought over it once nations start to exceed their supplies. Countries can do without oil if they have to, but water is a necessity of life.

Lots of water in southern Alberta...all the snow that's yet to melt and Monsoon June is just getting started. :P :D

Newsflash: I know this might be difficult for you to imagine, but there is a whole rest of the world beyond Calgary.

True, but water is more of a regional issue than a global issue. You certaintly can try to ship water around the world, but it isn't worth it.

It's worth is proportional to the available supply. Italy is already shipping in water.

We are in a long-term drought here in SC. The grass outside already looks like it is late August instead of early June. +38 the last couple of days with mid-30's all week and no rain in sight. I would be happy to see a good tropical storm come across.

    Wait a month or two...

The authors say water levels in some rivers in Alberta have declined by 20 to 84 per cent in the past 100 years.

The biggest declines were measured in rivers and lakes in the central and southern part of the province, where Albertans draw most of their water.
