    Should have gone with those Russian planes. Oh wait this isn't the C-17 thread.

    That what happens when you put a down payment and wait 10 years before putting them into service. The problem lays in our government (Chretien's). The Brits merely did what they were paid for.

    Yes, this was a catastrophe from the beginning.

    Too bad someone had to die.

    Indeed. And we probably could have designed and built our own by now.

    R=UP

    Good that you finally admit it... :wink:

    Seriously though, this sub purchase was a total cluster fuck from the get go. I wonder how different things would be if either;

    1. Mulroney had bought nuke boats

    2. Chretien hadn't cheaped out and bought us brand new subs.

    Either way, the navy would be far better off right now.

    Maybe we should just borrow some subs from West Edmonton Mall

    Great example of what happens when you try to nickel and dime the Canadian Forces.

    Thank the politicians for this mess.

    Interesting how in one thread we see people crying civilians need to be involved in military matters, then in this one we see the civilians fucking up the military.

    True, and someone died as well. If it was the other way around however, the deaths would be by the truckloads like Burma.

    Too much money sunk into A-stan at our Navy's expense?

    Why do you assume letting the military deal with some of it's own matters = complete military dictatorship? You are bringing it to an extreme that no one is suggesting.
