Seriously though, this sub purchase was a total cluster fuck from the get go. I wonder how different things would be if either;
1. Mulroney had bought nuke boats
2. Chretien hadn't cheaped out and bought us brand new subs.
Either way, the navy would be far better off right now.

Why do you assume letting the military deal with some of it's own matters = complete military dictatorship? You are bringing it to an extreme that no one is suggesting.
