I don't see the 'racism' in this? The old system was flawed, and this is a solution to that. I think these people need a defenition on racism. Why do news reports always report this BS? If it's a BS story, then you don't give it any air time. Got to stop wasting people's time with stuff like this.

As a liberal supporter I support this change .. there are far too many immigrants coming here that have little or nothing to offer and some these days are just here to cause trouble..
we have to be more selective and increase the requirements.. no one should be able to come here and go on welfare..stealing our tax dollars and demanding their rights! enough is enough

I'm not going to comment on if this was needed or not but this charge is groundless, of course. Their saying the changes will be racist even though these changes haven't happened yet.
I am so tired of the flippant and groundless use of these emotional hot buttons like "racist", homophobe, or "American style".

it was needed the immigration policies have been outdated for years.. I do not support the tories but i support them on this..its a good start.. but its time ( in a culture of terrorism ) to tighten the rules.. only the best and only those who contribute to society and no one who will draw on the system.. end of story.. call me wht you will.. its time to change the policy....

Not sure where the "Racism" is in this, but can see where the power to possibly be "Racist" or abused in some fashion could occur.

What? lol, so instead of letting in any average joe from India. We let in some scientist who wanted to go to school in Canada and become a Scientist from India. That is racist?

They can deny people from a certon country, yes but they will not do it because of racism... If terrorism was on the rise (As it currently is) and you got a country that is full of extremists. Would is be safer for Canada to limit the immigration from that country? or should we just say fuck it, and let everybody who wants to come in all because we don't want to be 'racists'.

Bacardi4206 and/or kenmore, lets say you marry a Hot Swedish Girl and want to bring her to Canada.

Well because you spend to much time on web forums rather than working and making a real living, the "new" immigration zar decides you are not rich enough and denies her application.

Your love is left behind in Sweden...

I don't like the idea of all that power in the hands of one person. Set up a panel of 12 or something like that.

there are parts of the world that our doors should be closed to... I like this new immigration bill, but think it should go further

The new immigration bill IS GOOD, yes. But what I don't like is there is one person, and immigration zar that if she does not like you for some silly reason, that person alone can denie you access.

If it was a panel of 6 or 12 that would vote to deny, then I think it would be more fair, or if there was a way to fight the decision.

As has bbeen pointed out by others, it cooncentrates power into one persons hand. That makes it much too easy to abuse.

Granted, but let's face it, the way it's being run now is rubbish. This has the potential to speed things ip and it can't really be any worst.

Then again, many of you lot still think the Khadr family were good citizens.
