1 dead, 2 stabbed in campground fight at Cultus Lake

No idea what happened here, but Manitoba greatly reduced disturbances by disallowing alcohol at all Provincial campgrounds over May long weekend.

Far too much alcohol use in society today. I'd rather party with some pot heads, they don't burst into random acts of violence. Hell even the local whl team received permission to sell alcohol in the arena. Do we really need to drink alcohol to enjoy a 2 hour hockey game?

One of the victims is my daughter's boyfriend, he was stabbed in the back directly into both his kidneys and is in serious condition at the hospital. I haven't slept in over 24 hours since we heard the news after a wedding in Victoria. His best friend, and a good friend of my daughter as well, is the one who died and there was another of their friends there that was just beat up a bit.

All of her friends are never confrontational people, even when drunk, the three other assholes came looking for a scrap and starting it (and not over a girl as some news channels are reporting). The guy who died was stabbed 5 times in the chest, my daughters boyfriend like I mentioned in the back right where both his kidneys are (and they were worrying he may lose one or both of his kidneys but he's managed to get a bit better every hour so they probably won't need to do surgery on him). He's still in bad condition, but is alive at least.

At least the caught the bastards!

Thank you, he's young and healthy so he should pull through but it will take time. He's a great guy, a pilot, training to get his commercial license right now too.

Alcohol is a contributing factor in these things, not the cause. It's double-bad when a group of kids are enjoying themselves, minding their own business when a group of morons with nothing better to do than to start a fight enter the picture. It could happen to any one of us whether we were drinking or not. You cannot control another's stupidity.

The other victim is a park ranger, he was cut on the arm but it was at least minor so he'll be okay.
