Much as I would like to make this an anti Air Canada rant, the fact is I think all airlines will be forced to follow suit or go broke.

As much as fuel is going up, they really should increase service to more than a Coke and a bag of peanuts.

I flew AC a couple of weeks ago, they had to delay my flight because my seat was missing its seatbase cushion, they had to rob one from another aircraft......

Exactly, and its not just Air Canada, look at the whole outsourcing maintenance to China (the Seatbelt engine story), and the flying aircraft without any real inspection? Come on if Air Canada was selling cars, half of you would be bitching and crying about low quality would never buy any sort of Big Three car.

Something some airlines are doing is just slowing the aircraft down -adding 2 minutes onto one flight, 4 onto another- and it's saving them shitloads in fuel costs.

Another issue to consider is fat-ass north americans. Yes, believe it or not, the increasing average weight of north americans has actually increased the average gross of airliners, thus increasing fuel consumption. I'd really love to see someone do a report on the weight of passengers vs. costs of operation.

yeah there in a tough corner there spenting way too much money on fuel yet if they don't buy fuel they can't fly there planes . so customers end up paying the price .

Here, we expect to see airline prices go up by 30 % in the next few weeks. This will curtail any major travel plans for us this year. renting a cabin in the mountains will be our summer holiday rather than a flight home.
