Don't worry guys. No President is going to change NAFTA. They only say they are in order to get votes.

Try and stay on topic, this thread is about Canadian economic growth and self-interest. The election scandal and NAFTA are two different things.

Considering you spew the "Harper is Bush's bitch" line so often , I thought you'd be able to discern the difference.

The whole NAFTA thing is just more sabre rattling. Neither candidate has anything of value to talk about, especially since both have gotten into trouble for talking without thinking. They had to come up with something to try to get the public's support. Facing job losses and poor judgement in finances, it is easy for them to get the voters' passion by making it look like NAFTA is the case of it all. Hello, Mrs Clinton, your husband's giving China Free-Trade and Perfered trade status is what the real ill is from!

Revoke their free-trade status and to-heck with what the world trade org says and you will see jobs coming back to North America.

i still think it was rather silly of the 2 democratic nominees to bring this issue up. mean they can't just turn back the clock to the pre nafta days , its just not possible . and to bring it up now sounds kind of desperate .

I think, quite frankly, we'd be in an even stronger position now than we were 20 years ago, and we'll be in a stronger position in the future."

    Says Harper. and he's right.
We're much stronger and more secure than we were when this was negotiated. Because of the cost of oil, Canada's tar sands are economical and a far better and more stable source now.

I don't want to see that can of worms opened but both Dems are trying to sell that line.

I am on topic.. this is just posturing by Harper.. like who is he kidding.. he would do what ever george wya said to do.. if it was open NAFTA he would.. you think this little tid bit of showmanship is going to change anyones perspective... doubt it..

If Harper finally makes Canada stand up for itself an be the first to proudly bully America into submission to make sure Canada gets the best side for once, instead of vise-versa, I would possibly promote any vote for him.

    For now, we'll see.

Either way, I hope NAFTA is obliterated and Canada gets the best it can get.

The future looks bright, baby, 8)

you want to see nafta obliterarted ? why do you want to see even more jobs and money disappear ?

do you really think our economy would be better off without free trade with our neighbours to the south ?
