First off what's with all the deformed babies being born in India lately? You don't see this level in other highly polluted countries.
This situation sort of reminds me of the situation with the Jehovah's Witness parents in BC who didn't want their newborn quintuplets to have a blood transfusion. Should the government step in and force treatment for this child? When do parents rights end and society's obligations to protect children begin? While I have no proof that this child could not leave a healthy (definitely not normal) life, I seriously doubt it.
My guess, if it is true that there are a lot of these stories coming out of India, is that it's just that they have a billion people and a high birth rate. The more oportunities for something to happen, the more often it'll happen.

In this village? Why not?
From what I read I understand the people think of her as a reicarnation of a God. She will live like a queen (for so much that is possible...). It might not be your thing, but it is their culture, and as long as they don't do anybody wrong, I see absolutely no reason for governments to step in or treatment whatsoever. She is not sick, she has two faces. What kind of treatment?
It might not be up to western standards, but hey, it is India, small (and poor) town India.
I hope she will get the life she deserves: a happy one.
"QBall" said I agree with Brenda. That culture may seem a bit F***ed to us but that is their thing and they are not bothering me or mine.
So are you saying that what the B.C. government did with the quintuplets in B.C., regarding the forced transfusions, was wrong or right?
That is a completely different situation.
This girl is not sick, she will not die if nothing is done. The quintuplets were gonna die.
It's a shame the parents won't allow the CAT scan to be done - I think that's pretty important. As the article stated, because she is healthy now doesn't mean that there won't be (possible) problems in the future.
I'm quite in awe actually. I wonder if the two faces will have separate expressions? You know, like if she's sad, and the other part has a smile or if they'll work together...sort of like eyebrows? If that makes any sense at ALL. lol
