It's all about soft diplomacy you see. If we just ignore the bad things China is doing and pretend like there's nothing wrong then one day China will come around to our way of thinking. I for one think we should give them the right to hold the Olympics, have completely open trade with them, and turn a blind eye when ever they trample human rights. That will teach em!

When the world stops being greedy and cares more about Human Rights then money. What's greedy about wanting something affordable? Despite the deluge of cheap Chinese products, Canadians today aren't rich. With the rising price of housing and energy products, the cheaper Chinese products allow us to afford a little extra. That being said, I would prefer a more visible country of origin label so that it's easier for me to distinguish Chinese made products.

The fact people don't even want to boycott a few chinese products because they are just a little cheaper to protest the abuse they are doing is infact greedy.
We (the west) are screwing ourselves by continuing to trade with and support the current regime in China. China is poised to become a superpower, and they will have huge economy and population at their disposal.
Some people might think the US is doing a bad job as the world's superpower, but I would take them any day over China, who has already shown the world their inhumane methods many times.

Hey jerk!! What do you know about China??????
About as much as you communist toadies know about human rights!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like the Chinese army goons they sent along to guard the torch through France:
Lord Coe last night condemned the army of Chinese "thugs" who accompanied the Olympic torch relay through London.
The head of London's 2012 Games described as "horrible" the burly henchmen who barged their way through the capital, shoving the public and even police out of the way.
Sunday's scenes, which were repeated in France yesterday, brought accusations that Britain had imported Chinese police state tactics to control the supposedly showcase relay.
Miss Huq, one of 80 torchbearers said: "The men in blue perplexed everyone. Nobody seemed to know who they were officially or what their title was. They were very robotic, very full on, and I noticed them having skirmishes with our own police and the Olympic authorities before our leg of the relay, which was confusing.
"They were barking orders at me, like 'Run! Stop!' and I was like, 'Oh my gosh, who are these people?'
"They kept pushing my hand up higher when I was holding the torch, so they were...interesting."
Miss Huq was nearly knocked to the ground by a protester as thousands of campaigners disrupted the procession to demonstrate against China's human rights abuses and brutality in Tibet.
It was reported the men have been recruited from Chinese special forces brigades. Some came from the feared Flying Dragons and rthe Sword of Flying Dragons counter-terror units.
As long as China keeps making cheap good and products, the world won't care.
