The Fred Flintstone-type vehicle had no windows and no licence plates when four passengers took it on its maiden voyage through downtown Toronto last October.

No windows, no licence plates, no floorboards, bicycle hand brakes, a top speed of 15 Km/H and tea candles for headlights and the judge doesn't consider the vehicle unsafe for public streets? What a frickin' moron!

It's not a motor vehicle. Just a quadcycle with a roof. The onus was to prove it unsafe, which the prosecution failed to do. Case dismissed.

Of course it is unsafe. The speed is too low to be on the road. It is not a cycle but a car. Downhill it would run away as the bicycle brakes wont hold it.

In Ontario a quadcycles are not considered a bicycle under the Highway Traffic Act (only uni, bi, and tricycles are) and therefore cannot be operated on a road.

Ok, so this POS is safe to travel on the roads but an electric ZENN car, http://www.greenlivingonline.com/GettingAround/cp-4299/ built in Canada is not??

Load er up with the "performance artists" and bring em to Winnipeg, preferably in the Winter, see how much their art is valued then.

No mention of quadcycles in the link. No doubt the act will be changed to include them.

The ticket was given for an unsafe vehicle, which was not proved.

It was foolish to take the vehicle on a public highway.
