no price, no tax, this is just politaical bs there is no need to tax to recuse co2 people or politians who think a tax is needed are looking to get more money and not to reduce co2

Will this mean that I can get a better price for the pile of firewood in my backyard?

I have a limitless supply of free wooden pallets. I ussually take a load in my pickup about twice a week for firewood.

Liberals like to tax anyone they perceive as having too much or being too successful. Carbon emitting industries certainly fall under that category. Auto manufacturers likely wouldn't (at least Martin admitted he wouldn't tax them when he was PM.)

Liberals should tread carefully. If a carbon tax looks like the son of NEP then Alberta is gone. A republic is unlikely but sovereignty association through the immediate implementation of the firewall is all but guaranteed. Anyone who believes Alberta will stick around for another Liberal assault disguised as an act of environmental penance doesn't really understand this province or it's underlying sentiment.

If there is another NEP, I believe that we would get a separatist movement pop up overnight with about 30% voter support. I would be one of them.

Harper took the wind out of the sails of the separatists and I doubt there would be an outright separation if Dion and the Liberal Party declared war on Alberta, but I am confident that the Firewall would be erected and a credible and solid separatist movement would be created that would dog Canadian politics for years to come.

There's nothing more uncanadian than fucking with my livelihood. Ottawa can go fuck themselves if I hit the unemployment lines just so people in Ontario can save 15cents on gas. I don't see Ottawa offering to subsidize my truck loan for an Ontario built truck.

The National Energy Policy was created by the Liberals as a direct attack on Alberta which they feared was becoming too wealthy and influential and they were catching a lot of flack from their power base in central Canada over.

This was also the first time in Canadian history that the federal government actually created a policy to deliberately damage another province.

To say that it destroyed 10s of thousands of families and businesses literally overnight would still be an understatement. I personally will never forgive the Liberal party for what it did and will never tolerate it happening again.

An many recently moved to alberta worker would probably support separtion, too. These people left their homes to find work, I think many would leave their country if their country threatens to take that work away from them.
