Some Liberals believe that it is unacceptable and humiliating for the leader to still be wrestling with a debt so long after the convention.

    Woops. It just got worst.
OTTAWA—Prime Minister Stephen Harper is following through on his threat to sue the federal Liberals for $2.5 million because of accusations, posted on the Liberal party's website, that he knew of "Conservative bribery."

the fact that after a year as liberal leader he has not been able to pay this off , says something about the amount of appeal there is out there for mr dion .

mean why can't he fundraise money for himself or his party ?

i wonder if dion has managed to pay off his leadership debt yet or any of it since yesterday , i doubt .

maybe he'll have to plan some fundraiser or something .

Perhaps there is some merit to the suspicion that DION avoids an election because as a "former leader" he will attract no handouts (political donations.
Canada's most adept (and corrupt) politicians are the LIBRANOs and they have an excelant grasp of the political realities. All the heavy hitters including Manely abandoned the sinking ship long past.

you might have a good point as i bet a former liberal leader would not get alot of donations especialy if he had lead his party to a defeat. the grassroots and corporate donators would see little reason as to why they should be giving money .

Another day has gone by, and the Liberals have continued to show their lack of fiscal competence.
