Operational issues at an Imperial Oil refinery in Edmonton could mean gas shortages at the pumps in western Canada.

I think it is time to build more refineries, resulting in fewer shortages and lower fuel costs.

    Nationalize the Canadian oil industry.

Quit sending off so much of "Canadian" resources south of the border. Should adopt a Canadian first policy.

Build more refineries in Canada and lower the price of gas at the pump to help the middle class.

Don't you mean "Nationalize oil industry"? Sorry, been there, done that, didn't work. National Energy Program

AND that would be a good catalyst for Alberta to separate from Canada or become the 51st state.

The gas shortage has Superstore stations in Winnipeg who have run out of regular gas, selling premium at the regular gas rate. So, for at least a short time, customers are getting a deal.

Kudos to Superstore for running low on supplies but giving a deal to the consumer. Don't think it will be long before the big oil hype machine kicks into gear and convinces consumers to rush to fill up while they can at prices much higher than the current $113.9 per litre we pay now for regular motion lotion.

Nationalize ....Communism? May be we could call it Canmex?

What would we do with all that oil we export now? ....quit drilling? shut the oilsands? send everybody home? shut down the canadian economy?

How about drive less? ..if thats not possible when it comes time to buy new car skip the V8.

Well that's the way to do it. Don't get want you want, start kicking and screeming like a 2 year old and threaten to seperate.

Typical Albertan, only thinks of himself.

Yeah, Alberta's OIL. Like Saskatchewan, Northern B.C., and the Artic does not hold untold amounts of undiscouvered oil reserves. Not to mention Newfoundland Grand Banks.

Canada is rich in oil and belongs to all Canadians.

I consider Franklin D. Roosevelt to have been the BEST President the United States has ever had. He pulled the U.S. out of depression and created many new divisions within the U.S. Gov't.

Most important to concerned himself with infrastructure and was America first.

It's seems Canada has become nothing but a door mat to the USA, and Canadian's have become use to it.

I would like to see a National Oil Industry in Canada, gas prices lowered, more road built into rural area of Canada which include far northern areas.

As transportation costs are lowered, easy access to rural area are more available, you will have lower prices and more growth in the northern regions of Canada.

I could go on... but I am limited in time right now.

This is just another bullshit reason to raise prices.
We had a number of smaller refineries in the west but big oil bought them out then shut them down. Go figure that we now have a shortage.

Just accross the border is Cherry Point refinery and they are huge. Someone should find a way to bring it in from there.

Tritium: Wasn't Petrocan supposed to bring us cheaper gas?
Like any of the marketing boards ever lower the price to the consumer.

Venezuela gas is cheaper than water. It's been nationalized.

Maybe if the fukking gov't passes the saving unto the people, rather than sinking it into useless social programs or giving it to Quebec. :?:

I want to see the money given back to "Canadians" to build infrastructure, to build more refineries, lower prices at the pump so the middle class and poor have more money in their pocket.

Right now we send our raw materials to the United States, they refine it and we end up buying it back. (adding 2 more taxes to the cost)

We are not self sufficent as a country if we are having gas shortages.

ridenrain, for someone who claims to be so pro-Canadian, you seem to not be very interested in Canada's interests first. Canada 1st, buy Canadian.

For Canada, I believe in Protectionism, giving tax breaks to companies that manufacture goods in Canada, and tax the piss out of companies that close down and ship jobs over seas. (just to please WalMart's welfare elite)

I believe that Canadian's should come first, our jobs, our resources, our military.

I'm just tired of being America's door mat and blamed for their problems all the time.
