NEW WESTMINSTER, B.C. -- The fire marshal ordered an area of the emergency room at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster to be cleared on Tuesday because of overcrowding.
Adding Capacity as time goes on....WTF? Apparently they need more capacity now.
Unfortunately they are not the only hospital in this situation. Two months ago at Victoria General they had Emergency patients in Stretchers/ Beds in the hospital's main lobby waiting on emergency.
I posted this at 9:15 this morning....3 hours later I was part of it. They kept me in the ambulance for 20 minutes waiting for room in emergency, I was told by the ambulance crew there were 3 other ambulances there at the same time....just waiting for room, they were worried about running out of emergency vehicles. When I was leaving the place looked like a disaster area, there were people on gurneys in the hallways, every cubicle was full, people were everywhere waiting for attention.....Health care in BC ?????
When I was in the body and fender shop a few weeks ago, I noticed something strange and asked the doc about it.
When I showed up on Sunday afternoon with my heart going beat/sputter/blurp/beat the place was a ghost town. When I passed back through it on Tuesday afternoon after getting a cathater done it was a zoo of waiting ambulances, people on stretchers in the hallways etc etc.
And what did the doc say? The ER was dead on the weekends and a zoo during the weekday. He did the ol rise the eyebrow thing and told me to make my own mind up about why that might be...
