VILNIUS, Lithuania - One door opened a little wider here Friday while another slammed shut as Canada sought allied help in the battle against Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan's treacherous southern region.

What the Fuck is wrong with NATO, can those pussy Europeans not stand up and shoulder some responsibility. The really sad thing is that they are closer to Afghanistan than we are. This is the prime example of why the UN and NATO are no longer viable, everyone wants to be isolationists and if that wont work then they want to be politically safe....what is this world coming to?

This the prime example of why the UN and NATO are no longer viable, if they ever were.

The UN's moment in the sun ended in the 50's.

Basically NATO lost it's raison d'etre when the Soviet Union collapsed.

NORAD----the jury is still out---seems to be working---especially when the F15's were not.

Afghanistan had many friends through history and it's desgusting to see all of them run away now. Germany was one of their best allies during WW2 and now they don't even have the political will to fight to help.

Kudos to the Germans for having learned from their past mistakes.

Rocket Robin hood would never quiver in his futuristic space boots when there was a good fight about.

Fuck NATO. Canada, Britain, and the US should all abrogate the North Atlantic treaty immediately. Let the Euro-cowards, who sat around doing absolutely nothing while the Bosnian holocaust happened in their own backyard, deal in the future with that nice Mr. Putin and all their pleasant jihadist immigrants all by themselves.

These are the sorts of things that make me wish more often than not that we'd left the whole stinking brothel continent of Europe to suffer under Hitler and Stalin. These people and their whore politicians weren't worth a single one of our soldiers dying.

It's hard not to agree with that.
Canada and America shouldn't be islands but we shouldn't be fighting on behalf of those who refuse to stand with us. The Afghans need our help and Canada should help them but anyone other than the UK and the US can get bent. I don't like it but I can't see any reason to keep NATO together after this.
