Money can't buy happiness. At least that appeared to be the case for the Dawe family of Peterborough who were handed a cheque yesterday for $24.2 million after winning the Jan. 30 6/49 draw.

Maybe grandma is giving most of it to charity, and only a small amount to each of the kids.

And that is just the start.....security because they are in the public spotlight.

A lot of folk just don't like getting centered out.

Perhaps they discussed it and reflected on it and were wondering if it was not a curse.

So some people didn't want to be part of the dog and pony show, big frickin' deal. I wouldn't want my name and picture plastered in the newspaper saying I had just won a crapload. Every shyster, salespersn and mooch would be at my door. Unfortunately every lottery corporation makes you jump through hoops in order to get your winnings. If it was me I would walk in in a Santa outfit, take the photo and walk out immediately while telling the media to go "fuddle duddle" themselves.

Money does not make people happier, just wealthier.

Having reflected upon this---I have realized that the wisest thing prior to purchasing new wheels would be to hire a professional bullet-stopper (body guard).

I'd buy a couple of mastiffs and tether them close to the front door and get a new unlisted phone number. I'd also take a nice long trip.

Maybe this is why they were less than enthused for the cameras........
