Fifteen per cent of Canadians would give up their ballot in Canada's next federal election to vote in the U.S. election, a new poll co-sponsored by the CBC has found.
The 15% should move to Alberta and secede from Canada and become the 51st State. That would no doubt make a lot of people happy, the least of which being the other 85% of Canadians who want to be Canadian.
well its probably do to the hype and the fact that that many Canadians watch Oprah...lol..... some people have said that they find Canadian Politics boring..... I suppose that percentage would rather be American... there are buses, trains, and planes leaving hourly... I suggest they jump on one...

Good God no! Alberta is crazy enough as it is without joining the US. That's the last thing we need...
Hmm, I think its because our culture in Canada is overwhelmingly American.
The #1 show in Canada is American Idol/C.S.I. (depends what time of year). The only Canadian television shows that make the Top 30 are Canadian News, and Canadian knock-offs of American shows (Canadian Idol, Deal or No Deal: Canada, etc. etc.)
And although I disagree, many Canadians find our politics boring and are taken away with American politics. (I personally love both political arenas in the U.S. and Canada equally).
And I don't believe its all right wingers who make up this 15% who would want to vote in a U.S. Election...I think a lot of lefties would be part of that to sway it Democratic.

because of oprah ? i doubt that is the reason for the interest , maybe they have been watching too much CNN or something . and think there an american now .
You guys are making this more then it is, It only states that this 15% would RATHER vote in U.S. elections. It doesn't mean they want to be Americans... because they would have just moved to America if they did. It is no suprise that Canadian Politics isn't exactly as entertaining as American Ones because no offense to whoever is American but it's like a circus. Each one trys there hardest to bash the other person they are competing against. It's like the politic version of Jerry Springer. Besides, I bet you that that some of them (not all) are black, and upset with what Bill Clinton said about Obama, and black people.
I am very sure that none of these 15% meant that they want to go live in America. If some did, then may they enjoy there future life in America. No harm, no foul.
It is simply that folks feel that America has too much influence to their lives and they want to have a say. Can't blame them. We Americans should be more sensitive to how others feel about our decision making.
anyways doesn't surprise me there is some interest in the american election . as its been on the news alot here.
