Wotherspoon first in 500m

Jeremy Wotherspoon of Red Deer, Alta., was first in the 500-metre and third in the 1,000 on Saturday to stand first overall at the halfway point at the world sprint championships in long track speed skating in Heerenveen, Netherlands.
