The Harper government broke its election promise yesterday to require ministers to record their contacts with lobbyists, instead ordering lobbyists to file monthly reports on their oral communications with federal officials.

In fairness, I never expected them to keep this promise to begin with, they're just too slimy.

why is it always a big deal if tories , change plans a bit but when a liberal government does it , its not .

but anyways the conservative government has brought in considerably more reforms and positive changes to the way government works with the federal accountabilty act . and have done more to clean up the way things work there then when the liberals under chretien were in power .

well if the liberals hadn't broke so many promises than maybe people would respect them more , but governments like dalton mcguinty liberals spent years breaking promises only to slow down recently cause they realised it was making them unpopular and looking like fools .

 The only promise Dalton broke was the health care tax and we can lay that at the feet of the outgoing PCs who misrepresented the amount of deficit.

Harper has managed to break, ignore, or flip-flop on just about every promise he made yet that never seems to register in your brain.

Try holding your beloved conservatives to the same level of scrutiny you do the Liberals.

Then feel free to list them because thats the only one you have every identified, instead attempting to lie and claim that the economy is in a tailspin in Ontario because of Dalton. You got busted wide open on that one.

Now, why don't you cry the same amount of Harpers string of broken promises.

Goddammit Ryan, knock it off with the partisan hackery. When Chretien flipped on scrapping the GST, did people just ignore it? When the Liberals signed Kyoto, then didn't do anything about it, did everybody get mass amnesia?

Don't worry. Every party in this country gets their fair share of scrutiny. Don't whine when it's your party's turn in the spotlight.

P.S. If you're next going to argue the Liberals get it easy whereas the Cons get crucified, I hope you're going to introduce some independently verifiable statistics.
