The selective hunting of male polar bears could eventually leave lovelorn females out in the cold, newly published data suggests.

Aren't polar bears to the brink of extinction due to Gloabl Warming?

After all the BS about polar Bears and GW it is difficult to take anything about Polar Bear endangerment really seriously. That's what happens from calling wolf.

I'm not sure you need an excuse for not taking an interest in something. I certainly would not fault you for such a thing, but why you must deride others for caring I find a wee bit interesting.

I still don't understand why they are allowing them to hunt in the first place, it should be illegal. When will they be satisfied? When every single animal species has been whiped from the planet? This is how it's going to be done,

Polar bears get knocked out first, then seals. Eventually when the seals are all hunted out, then there will be a new hunting season against every other animal for all the ass-holes who would kill off a entire species just to make a quick buck.

    You misunderstand...

I care greatly about the environment and the future of mankind.

I just don't subscibe to a political agenda which threatens the environment and all god's creatures big and small.......especially people. So far this agenda has razed thousands of hectares of fragile, rare rainforest to produce bio-fuels to fuel the humbug. A fleet of Japanese ships is en route to Antarctica to kill hundreds of humpback and mink whales. Polar Bears are alive and well and prospering.

    Even sharks are threatened...

No CO2 = no energy = no people

No doubt the "scientist" who did this study had the results prior to doing the study----that seems to be the way.

You mean like the one the Norwegian did that indicated that mmose farts were a danger to the climate? Our tax dollars and all the donations the handwringers stupidly donate to the likes of the SUZUKI FOUNDATION.

It has been estimated that about $50 billion has been spent on this bogus science.

This study is based on the assumption that Polar Bears are endangered and that their numbers are declining. The government is considering hunting because it is considering the evidence done by real scientists and local observers......and not basing their policy on a science fiction movie.

I was waiting for this myself.

On-the-ground observations by land-savvy Inuit have long butted heads with scientists’ elaborate modelling calculus. Like dogs meeting for the first time, both sides warily sniff at each other, acknowledging but not necessarily accepting each other. “Some years we don’t see bears, but us native people aren’t afraid they’re dying,” says Boogie Pokiak in Tuktoyaktuk. “We just know that something happened in the food chain, or they’re concentrating somewhere else. If a scientist doesn’t see bears, they start fear-mongering.”

    More from Boogie.
With the Beaufort bears in Boogie Pokiak’s own backyard potentially heading for trouble, the Inuk guide remains stoic. “If things get bad for polar bears, we harvesters realize that sport hunting will be the first to go – no question,” he says. “But I’m a hunter; it’s my life. Every time I shoot a bear, there’s a sinking feeling in my heart. You feel the excitement of the hunt, and also sorry when you see them dead. But you know you need it for income, and the food is good. And you take comfort in that.”

Read into it what you will, the guy has an agenda with tourists and it may explain his view but on the other hand he is an elder and his views are respected and honoured.

The greens and environut's want to take away the means of income and food for the Innuit and Eskimo, yet it would mean more subsidies just for our toughest defenders of Canada's right to the Arctic just to survive.

What a shame.Let the people who live there take care of "our land" not the suits and ties.
