Canada's economy remains rock-solid despite the many challenges facing it -- and low taxes will help it stay that way, says Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

    ok Stephen, here you go..

19% flat tax rate on income, regerdless of amount

    19% flat rate of GST/PST

19% profit tax for companies, no double taxation for owners of companies

that is the rates in Slovakia..

if anyone wants to send this to the government, be my guest.. real tax reform has made a big difference over here.

All just continuing with the Liberals policy of constant tax cuts. Just remember that.

I don't care where it started, it's just sweet to see it done. Now as long they initiate the tax cuts in a sustainable way, then more power to em' :)

not in ontario our liberal provincial government has not cut one single income tax or tax to my knowledge .

and stephane dions claim that he is interested in cuting income taxes in skeptical and i for one do not believe him as liberals always claim to want to do things like this them never actually do anything if elected.

    Dear ryan29,

You mean like when the Liberals lowered income tax, only to have the Conservatives raise it again? I don't care if you like the Liberals or not, quit posting purely partisan bullshit.

Your ignorance was well established with regard to the Liberals in Ontario.

Well established. Virtually every claim you made about the Liberals were proven false.

Economy, Law & Order, Nurses, jobs, ..... everything so your credibility is none.

From as far back as 1997 the federal Liberals did drop taxes more or less every year by: dropping personal income tax rates, eliminating the debt reduction surtax, dropping the EI premium, raising personal exemptions, etc.

Harper isn't setting any tax records as he is dropping taxes by pretty much the same rate already established. Lets not forget that Harper also raised income tax (and taxed income trusts) to pay for that 1% GST drop.

BTW, those provincial Liberals were too busy fixing the damage your PC party did. Blame them.

was more refering to the ontario liberals who have not lowered income tax to my knowledge , have actually increased taxes by creating the health premium 4 years ago . which they did in first budget and yes to no surprise dalton blamed someone else other than himself for having to create this tax.

he choose to not look at finding savings in government expenses when doing this , sure eves didn't leave things perfect but 2003 was a bad year remember SARS ? ( the travel advisory against toronto ?) , the blackout ? both these cost the economy millions of dollars that year. so any budget that year would of had problems no matter what.
dalton simply used this one bad year as an excuse to raise taxes .

Like your municipal thread, sometimes you just have to raise revenues. How do you do it?

The health care premium was one way. The best way? I don't know about that. Definitely not the most politically safe. But it raises money for healthcare when healthcare needs money. And it doesn't seem to have hurt McGuinty much.

the health tax didn't hurt mcguinty cause the ONLY issue talked abou during the provincial election was faith based funding .

I guess that reveals how much the premium bothers people then, huh?

They looked at the premium vs. some nutjob supporting faith based funding. They chose the premium.

It's only rational. Would you rather contribute some money to the healthcare system, or to some religious school?

No, that was just the issue that the voters made a primary one.

He also talked about the 400000 jobs created, the fact that hospital wait times were down because of all the nurses that were hired.

well the media and liberals made it an issue , more average voters became obsessed with it for whatever reason.
no poll pre-election had indicated that faith based schools was even on voters minds .

as for the liberal claims i highly doubt thats what won them the election .

As opposed to what issues you wanted?

Tory's election platform was a legit issue and you know it.

As for your claims about what won the election, well your opinion is just that.

They won. They won because they were the better party. They did alot of good in their time in office and were rewarded with a second majority.
