The boreal forest, which encircles northern latitudes from Canada to Siberia, contains close to one-third of all terrestrial carbon. There has been speculation the forest will soak up more carbon as the world warms due to climate change and the growing se

Ok, the way the article is labeled it makes it sounds like the forrest itself is at fault for pumping out CO2, rather than the fires.

When you see the article and these loonies repeatedly refer to CO2 AGW assumptions/doctrine you should slowly realize that all this is is a last hurrah of a failed agenda.

They even go so far as to cite the Pine Beetle thingy in BC (disproven as climate driven) is a result of GLOWBULL warming which has failed to be proven by observational means and continue to refer to the mystical, magical molecule as a driver for a undectected phenomina.

Too bad the stupid Kyoto Treaty specifically excluded planting forests for carbon sequestration or els there'd be an incentive to plant more forests to offset the recent fires. :?

Wouldn't roads in northern Manitoba help fight forrest fires? There isn't a single all-season road north of Thompson.

    Clearcutting prevents forest fires.

Indeed. Proper thinning and allowing seasonal ground burns to clear duff will also prevent forest fires.

I have reflected on this and found the motive.

The KYOTO mob denounce planting forests in the US to offset the mystical, magical molecule by creating a carbon sink. This is because it frustrates the goal of KYOTO which is to destroy the western industrialized countries through the extortion of CC's. This study is to support that illogical stance.

Much like Mann devised the "hockey stick" to eliminate an inconvenient truth---the RW--DA--MWP--LIA.
