One of the projects Lockheed has offered to invest in is a $150-million tentative plan to build a commercial launch pad in Cape Breton that would send rockets into space to service space stations and carry tourists.
This makes me think of cucumbers in Newfoundland for some reason.
At any rate, it seems like a fairly dodgy spinoff, and an obvious if indirect government subsidy. I guess the Cons gotta do something in Atlantic Canada. I wonder how the western Con base will react to this? lol
"Streaker" said I wonder how the western Con base will react to this? lol
Now Danny Williams will be jumping up and down demanding NL gets one. Oh and we don't mind this out west. After all the Liberals bought us one of these. Actually it's the only one in the world
Actually the space centre has been in the works for two or three years now, both for private space flights and it's NASA-related applications. For instance, it is at a better latitude than Cape Canaveral as far as accessing the ISS goes. It's also at a better location for setting up Polar orbits.
The 45 million isn't much, but it should help the project become reality.
an interesting idea but maybe not practical at this time , but it is the kind of thing which could turn into a tourist attraction at some point well maybe.
There's about 5 companies involved, and while there hasn't been much public talk about it, I know of several people at NASA whom are very interested in the idea.
No one has any thoughts on Caper Canaveral?
Yeah I was hoping that story wasn't posted

Still, I hope it turns out well and succeeds.

Forget Cape Canaveral, it's gonna be about Cape Breton now.
