According to CSIS, the member of Parliament sought to arrange a meeting in a foreign state with a senior intelligence official and also proactively provided the intelligence officer with information provided in confidence.

It sounds like 3 friendly countries are engaging in Transnational repression

Transnational repression refers to the exertion of control of an ethnocultural community by a foreign state through monitoring, coercion, harassment, intimidation or violence.

All countries do these sorts of things. Our MPs are the most likely to be stupid enough to fall for it.

Yet another reason to think thrice before handing out secrecy classifications all willy nilly.

The government can't name names but they could leak them.

No, if the comittee members leak names, they will be prosecuted too. As it should be.

Security should be taken seriously.

'Accidents' happen. Would be a shame if it did but until a remedy is applied there is a pale upon the entire house. This is not tenable. What's next loyalty oaths?

Treason? Without a doubt. Best case is we can use this as a bait program to track the actions of outside actors. This has exposed a huge chink in our armor that must be redressed and moving on to the next hot topic isn't going to make this go away. There is a onus on the government to act and that extends to governments in waiting as well.
