These ads are not just harmful to young people, as the article stresses, but to ALL people. This is part of why I'm disgruntled towards the NHL now. Every fucking ad is about gambling from on those damn digital boards to the commentators and the "pro" athletes who endorse and encourage it. Are they all reaping money off the addiction of gambling? It's to the point that we either mute the TV or change the channel when those ads come on as they are overly repetitive and way too frequent.
WTF is next? Seeing ads featuring millionaire players cracking a cold one or doing tequila shots or smoking a doobie? Why would that be offensive when sports betting is perfectly peachy keen? One must still be "of legal age" to do it so why not?
Although I have never seen one, there can come no good from them. Just like a lottery, it can be an entertaining diversion for some, or a life changing addiction. You can't tell in advance, and afterward it will leave lives in it's wake.
At the very least they need to be regulated much more like tobacco products are. Cigarette makers can’t advertise at public event and spaces or on TV. Betting sites need to be treated the same way.

Gambling should always be tightly regulated by official sources as the potential for it to be exploited is far to great.
Kids as young as 8 report gambling addictions, advocates say, calling out sports betting ads
If commercials were actually true to experience, you'd just give the casino your money and walk out.
