'Berated' and 'agitated': What's being said about Trudeau's G20 exchange with Chinese President Xi

My media presented the story as Trudeau being humiliated. The story was that Mr. dress up received a dressing down. As much as I would like that to be true, I did not see that at all. I seen Trudeau standing his ground. He interrupted the interpreter when he grew tired of listening to the bullshit. He did not allow Xi to control the conversation. He made his point about open communication, something that is not allowed in China. He showed that he was not going to be bullied. Good for him and fuck Xi!!!

That's because you consume conservative media.

Shit like this is why I could never be a politician. All I'd want to say is "that cool and all, but who asked?"

Likewise, if it had been me, I probably would have told Xi to go fuck himself.

Agreed - I think Xi hoped it would look like Trudeau was humiliated by that conversation, and I'm sure it will be presented that way in Chinese media too.

However, most comments I've seen online supported Trudeau for standing up to Xi, with comments like "That's the difference between democracy and dictatorship.'

This was a set-up by Xi. We should cut all ties with that regime full stop.
