Sources confirm to Global News that a female police officer who was assisting Burnaby bylaw officers with a call at a homeless encampment in a park was killed Tuesday.

    Such a shitty thing to happen. And the worst irony is that she was on a team that was supposed to be different from just a regular cop, doing mental health outreach.

    Seriously, Riverview needs to be reopened and soon. There are just some people who can't function by themselves. And people like this Mountie are paying the price.

    We watched the service for Shaelyn today and what an incredible and moving service it was. I'm so glad it was a beautiful day here for the procession.

    She was a remarkable woman who did so much in her short time.

    RIP Shaelyn and thank you.
