However, one of these days, the University of Ottawa may decide that his outspokenness is a liability to them and it may cost Attaran his job, which I'm also fine with. Free speech is not always consequence free speech.
This is why we have tenure, so professors are free to voice unpopular opinions so as to challenge students to think for themselves. Sadly todays academia is going in the opposite direction. Today students are being taught to toe the line. Anyone voicing unpopular opinions are censored, and expelled. Schools today are one big indoctrination center. That meat grinder scene from The Wall comes to mind.
When he says that his opinion is fact without backing it up is where I have a problem.
