Former Calgary MP Rob Anders — a long-time crusader for lower taxes who helped found the Conservative Party of Canada — has been charged amid allegations of tax evasion during the time he held his seat, federal prosecutors have confirmed to CBC News.

A financial crime being laid against someone like Anders sometime during the course of his skeezy life should surprise exactly no one, not when his answer to everything when he was a politician or think-tank hack was to double-down on the wit & wisdom of a reptile like Ayn Rand. What an asshole.

I always thought of him as more daft than dangerous, with a talent for alienating people. He was the sort of politician you wouldn’t back in a competitive race.
