When Justin Trudeau announced his massive gun ban back on May 1, he told the country he was doing it to tackle gun violence and make Canada safer.

If we really want to make gun safety a priority we would invest in technology at the border to detect illicit gun smuggling. Instead, the Liberals are spending billions confiscating legal guns from families.

Preaching to the choir here bud. I've been saying for years that the billions wasted on the gun registry could have saved a lot of lives if it went to hiring border guards.

Guys, shut up with your intelligence and logic. We Canadians prefer to criminalize other Canadians, and use tried, tested and failed methods of dealing with problems. God.

    What logic?
What the fuck has a rise in criminal (handgun) shootings got to do with the fact you're no longer able to buy a Rambo Rifle because it looks cool?
Include a picture and call it a meme....

And logic wouldn't include references to a registry that ended 3 governments ago. Just sayin'

    1. I guess you missed the bit where I was being scarcastic.
    2. Gun bans do not work. At all. Mainly because the only people who follow said law, are those who are law abiding. That gang-banger that lives two houses down from you doesn't give a flying fuck about what laws you set.
    3. For the Record, M16A2 with the M203 attachment has always been illegal.

The logic that money should be spent preventing crime rather than taking away legally purchased items from heavily vetted law abiding citizens.

Well that's obvious but still have little to do with each other. The 'criminal shootings' aren't from long guns and never were, the ones by the whacked in the head were. Headlining it as a "fail" because it didn't do what everyone knew it wouldn't do and wasn't designed to do is bullshit.
Yeah the shootings in Nova Scotia and the shootings at that party in Toronto were both criminal acts but they're not the same so one law can't address both. As you yourself just said, crack down on the illegals.
But as I have posted many times 90% of voters are not gonna vote anyone out because you to own some Rambo rifle, so get over it.
I managed to live with the 5 shot magazine on a 22 with darting foxes and weaselly things after the chickens but still fought against registering the fucking peashooter.

No one has to justify to you or anyone else why they want to own something. That's the point the anti-gun mentality just can't understand, that no one else is obligated to provide an explanation to them. Trying to explain this to ban-happy fanatics is as impossible as explaining to Trump fans why he's such a wretched and completely terrible person. They're too deep into the tank of their own ideology to ever be able to understand why anyone else doesn't think exactly the way they do.

What families had their guns confiscated?

BTW suggesting that criminals have to risk smuggling guns across the border because they can’t get them in Canada proves that our gun control works.

    Are these statements also true?

Murder bans do not work. At all. Mainly because the only people who follow said law are those who are law abiding. That gang-banger that lives two houses down from you doesn’t give a flying fuck about what laws you set.

Rape bans do not work. At all. Mainly because the only people who follow said law are those who are law abiding. That gang-banger that lives two houses down from you doesn’t give a flying fuck about what laws you set.

The problem with that logic is that if you own a gun 'illegally' no one knows until you either commit a crime or the authorities have grounds to search your house.

Rape, murder and robbery are also crimes but they usually have witnesses.

Grounds to search your house? ROTFL

Their paranoia is now apparently grounds for their illegal actions.

What families had their guns confiscated?

Anyone who owned one of the 1500 models that Trudeau arbitrarily banned. They are effectively prohibited from leaving the home. You can't even transport them to sell them.

And before that, police would confiscate your guns if you let your license expire. The legislation gave them that right, and registering guns told police where they were.

Since people like the Nova Scotia shooter used weapons that he bought illegally, it proves that gun control doesn't work.

And how many of these shootings in the article were done with illegally acquired firearms? We'll never know, because Police won't release that information. We'll just have to trust them.

Gun bans don't work? I don't recall too many mass shootings in Canada with AK-47s since they were banned in the 90s.

Has it been 100% effective? I don't know, but then again neither are laws against murder, speeding or just about anything else. While we can hope that a ban will completely eliminate mass shootings, that isn't reality. We pass laws in the hopes of limiting damage to society and protecting people, not to completely eliminate behaviours society considers wrong.

For the most part, the gun ban, and the concurrent ban on high capacity magainzes, has severely limited the carnage when a mass shooting has happened. The shooting is April was an aberration if you look at the mass shootings we have had since Ecole Polytechnique.

    And that's fine by me.

Nobody NEEDS an assault rifle specifically designed for to kill people. Hunting rifles, shotguns, and even pistols (although they are also designed to kill people) are plenty for hunters and gun enthusiasts.
