The new North American trade agreement isn’t even in effect yet and the Trump administration is warning Canada and Mexico might face legal actions under the deal.

Hilarious. The CBC losing their collective farm minds over the fact that the US has told us we "might" face legal actions because:

Lighthizer said the other countries can expect to have cases launched against them if they fail to meet their commitments after the agreement takes effect July 1.

So. to avoid legal action all we have to do is honour the agreement and we'll have no troubles like we had under Clinton, Bush, Obama and every President before them. And sadly their attitude towards us won't change one iota if it's Crazy Joe or The Donald who's the President.

Warnings were when you mother told you to eat all your Brussels sprouts whereas, threats are what she said she'd have your father do to you if you didn't. :P

You mean where challenges get held up in US courts and never get resolved even thou arbitration clearly ruled in favor of Canada? OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

So you have no faith in the Americans word? Well if the current or future Presidents are honourable there should be no need for challenges and if they are they will more than likely be because the American invoked them to placate some lobby group......again.

Unless of course we're stupid enough to do something like import Chinese Steel and sell it to them as Canadian steel because it's cheaper and then all bets are off. IIRC we're still in court over the softwood lumber tariffs which is where we've been for the past 30 years despite what the courts have said over and over again.

We've got to remember that when it comes to trade with the Americans we're the mouse that roared and we're pretty much at their whim fair or not when it comes to any trade agreements. Which is why we should be selling our natural resources all over the world and not just to the Americans

A word is a bond and is only as good as the actions that support it. I ran against NAFTA and wanted to get up back to the GATT but that was not in the cards. If you want to hear about how many times the US courts are used as a way to screw Canada over time and time again ask Robair. I for one have washed my hands of the whole thing and frankly, until I see results words are empty.

If anything, it will get worse.

We stopped being a partner with the US, we are now a competitor to them.

The fact they held trade with us as a sword over our heads, and declared us a security risk just to get this one sided agreement should tell us all we need to know about how they plan to force implementation of it.

Taking all the excess milk, through court order, from their slowly bankrupting dairy industry will only be the start. Gland I don't drink milk, and will start only buying cheese imported from Europe.
