And just who in the hell did the media think would be willing or able to pay these "raised" taxes given that 44% of Canadian families have been financially negatively affected by the Corna Virus pandemic and subsequent shutdown?

To be honest we as a country will be lucky to maintain the status quo when it comes to tax income given the damage that's been inflicted on businesses and individuals.

Long term, like around the end of the year or before next spring, I can see the GST being doubled to 10%. I don't see any way around it either because it's the only true mechanism right now that can replace the funds from the Bank of Canada reserves that have been used over the last three months.

That leaves a few other choices: print the fiat to oblivion or and slavery.

As long as none of the proletariat ask "So..... who is "lending" us all of that money right now anyways and what-who is the collateral??" and continue to think of the future economy in terms of the same old ever-inflating fiat script, then all is good in the empire and the bad guys are happy.

Haven't paid city taxes yet, they gave a 2 month extension due to Covid19.
They also raised it 12.5% and reduced seniors discount from 50% to 40%....
fuck them, I'll pay it on the last day possible.
Also raised a revolt on local FB group that caused the new Mayor to resign, and the acting mayor to forward a motion to cancel more increases and more senior discount reductions planned over the next 2 years. Too late to stop this year's though.
Bright move of the last Council to counter the revenue lost from mill closures by hosing the few residents left. Thank God, think of the hosing they'd try after the Covid crisis with that line of C-ntservative belt tightening!
