Well isn't that special. It's nice to know they can lend money to high risk borrowers then forgive the loans all while ensuring taxpayer are on the hook for their generosity. But what's even more troubling is the fact that they won't tell us who and where money went.

Anybody want to bet who the recipients of this gov't largess were?

They are not lending anything. They are giving money for free to rich people.

Sure, they call them loans so that they do not have to overtly tell us what they are doing but this was all planned in advance.

Or..............their incredibly valued donor's. Either way this bullshit has to stop. Gov'ts aren't banks and as such shouldn't have the right to make loans to less than stable borrowers then, forgive those loans or use any of our money in any manner that isn't completely open and transparent both going in and coming out.

Are you open to the possibility that it can not stop?

Anything can be stopped and in this case, it just depends on how much abuse the people who are being raped can endure.

Export Development Canada’s (EDC) Canada Account

Probably concocted another plastic "recyclables"/toxic waste dumping scheme in a developing country and the local "partners" took off with the cash.

It’s a corporation. Despite all the rhetoric we are still a capitalist country and that means government serves business interests. Look at the bailout to chrysler that was written off mentioned. Last time I checked Chrysler was still in business and making a profit. All Chrysler did was shuffle some papers around so as to make a subsidiary business technically owe the debt and then they just declared that business bankrupt. Only in a capitalist system can a corporation play shell games like that.

Inote oil and gas bailouts are on that list too. That’s another industry that sucks the government tit dry.

This kind of thing pales in comparison to truly horrible scandals. Like Bev Oda having a $16 glass of orange juice or Nigel Wright paying off $90K of Mike Duffy's stupid debts out of his own pocket instead of charging it to the taxpayer. Please prioritize your outrages better, people. Sheesh!

In September 2018 the province of Manitoba wrote off the loan for the stadium. The province wrote off $118.7 million in August 2018, then $82 million in September 2018. My understanding is the Federal government contributed an equal amount. The article says the feds wrote off $200 million in December 2018. Is it this same stadium?

Global: Manitoba writes off $82M for IGF, taxpayers on hook for $200M for stadium
