Yet another example of the total irrelevance of the so-called UN Human Rights Commission. Just make declarations against a country without so much as a shred of factual evidence that what they are demanding is in fact what all Indigenous people want.
I applaud these Chiefs for standing up to them and would wish to see more of them do so.It is to their benefit that they refute what the UN is declaring especially when that body is dead wrong.
"I did not know that most First Nations agree on that, he told Reuters. This is something new that comes to my understanding. He further said he did not seek out further information on the project because the role of the committee does not involve investigative work."

Why not just ignore them?

When uniformed UN Human Rights dolts who continue to call out Canada for Indigenous rights admits his total ignorance regarding the numerous bands who support resource extraction and the building of pipelines they need to be called out for their lack of knowledge concerning those bands. Ignoring them is not an option when they refuse to admit that making blanket statements about Canadian Indigenous people, they fail to realize that they are in fact guilty of their own confirmation bias.
Again, I applaud these Chiefs who will not bow to the dictates of the ignorant UN.
Too bad the UN wasn't more concerned about access to clean drinking water on several reserves instead of trying to fuck the Natives out of economically benefiting from the O&G industry.
