It's a shame but he crossed the line this time. It was inevitable and not surprising. There was no way in hell that someone larger than life like Don is was ever going to retire quietly some day. Getting fired was always his fate.

    One column writers view.....

Justin Trudeau was twice convicted of ethics violations, wore blackface so many times he can’t count, interfered with justice and fired capable women for the offence of not toeing his false feminist line — but he’s the mob’s guy, so that’s okay.

Li'l Poutine could go and shoot someone on Yonge Street and his fans would still vote for him. And right now it's his fans that are the kind most loud and mouthy about how what Don Cherry did was absolutely "unforgivable".

Actually, that is a good article that made some very good points.

    Thanks for providing it.

For me, this is exactly how consumerism and big business should work. Listen to the consumers and if they don't like your product, adapt and change. I'm sure that if enough people had come to Cherry's defence, he might still have a job.

But since he coached the Bruins, you couldn't pay me enough to support him.

It’s different enough though. Trudeau’s stupidity was over a decade ago. He also apologized profusely and often, unlike Cherry

Trudeau's idiocy, which is ongoing, damages an entire country though. Cherry's just a cranky old man with a big mouth. You can opt out on Don by simply not watching his segment. There's no escape anywhere in this country from both the embarrassment Trudeau causes to all of us or from the rancor & disintegration his policies are causing.

“I have just learned I’ve been fired by Sportsnet for comments made on Coach’s Corner Nov. 9,” Cherry told me in a phone interview. “No problem.”

Cherry added: “I know what I said and I meant it. Everybody in Canada should wear a poppy to honour our fallen soldiers.”

    No apologies there.

And if he’d said it like that, he’d still have a job. But he didn’t. He made it about immigrants and that’s why he’s gone.
