It another year of optimism as NHL training camps begin on Thursday. But it's also another year of worrying whether this will finally be the season when the Stanley Cup returns north of the border.

Hockey season just weeks away. Pre-season just days. I'm expecting big improvements from Vancouver and Montreal.

Yeah...so much hope after getting those two superstar centers and a new state of the art stadium but then phhhht...

    I feel ya.

Still hoping for every Canadian team to at least make the first round of the playoffs though. Crossing my fingers hardest for Ottawa. Winnipeg could be on a down cycle too.

It's like an STH, but comes without wins.

It's hard to shift any focus to hockey when I'm trying to watch three different football leagues (CFL, NFL, NCAA), all while working two jobs. And now you want me to pay attention to hockey as well??

    *falls down*

That's why man created DVR, record one while watching the other. Curious what NCAA team(s) are you routing for?

I do not have a DVR, unfortunately.

My NCAA team is Notre Dame.

Here's hoping that when the NHL does start and I can get into it, that my Flames actually end up kicking ass, and not getting knocked out of the dance in the first round again. That was embarrassing last season, to say the least.

    That was weird.

Weren't they number 1 in the west and number 2 in the league going into the playoffs?

    What happened there, anyway?

It was a weird year though. I think St. Louis was around the bottom of the league at Christmas then they come back to win the cup. And Tampa Bay...what happened there?
