Pretty sure this'll end up in the US Supreme Court before the dust settles. And then, they'll go after the doctors who continued to prescribe opioids even after the evidence of the damage some of the supposedly safe addiction free opioids were doing became apparent.

But it's unfortunate that it came to this because thousands and thousands of people are suffering since they can't get proper pain relief and the gov'ts in their infinite wisdom didn't think about that before they began their assault on the manufacturers who, are pulling out of the pain relief business lock stock and barrel.

Here in Canada Jameson Pharmaceuticals has even gone so far as to stop making Tylenol 1's for fear of being dragged into this latest lawyer led inquisition.

The may be some culpability on the part of doctors but the drug cos are far from innocent and need to be held responsible for their role in this disaster.

Yes, they both have Codine, just different amounts.

Okay. Had Tylenol 3 back in the early 90's when I had my wisdom teeth removed. Just made me sleep a lot.

Similar. T1's have 325 mg of caffeine, 8mg codeine phosphate and 325 mg acetaminophen. So in essence they're a stepped down Tylenol 3.

When the BC College of Physicians and Surgeons lost their collective minds by deciding that every junkie started out as some pain patient who was faking it and changed the prescribing rules. My doctor told me to take these pills and told me I could take 12 a day safely. 8O

Well long story short, I take 2 pills twice over the course of 12 hours at night which pretty much equates to 1 T3 over a 12 hour period. But now that the producers have decided they aren't going to get sued by some sleezy ambulance chasing American lawyer we won't even be be able to get that lowered and less effective pain relief.

Also don't get me started on medical marijuana/caninaboid oil and "how effective" it is because from 2 years experience for me, it definitely isn't. The only reason I started taking it again is because now that we can't get pain relief from "opiods" I'm gonna have to find something else and I guess it'll have to be higher doses of THC which from the literature doesn't kill the pain only make you not think about it.

So I'm building up to the day I have to try it for pain relief because that seems to be the only thing we'll be able to get in BC.

North Americans want a pill for all that ails them. Even compared to Britain we jumped in with both feet when oxycodone etc. arrived. The claims of a safer, less addictive opioid were preposterous from the start (and immediately contradicted by what doctors were seeing) but that’s what we wanted to believe. Which is not to say that the pharmaceutical industry didn’t play a big role here. Fining them will not be enough. The real way to get the attention of drug company bigwigs who ignored the evidence of this catastrophe is to put them behind bars.

100% agreement on this one save for that I do not think it was a disaster. I think it was well planned and that the result was what had been planned with hundreds of thousands of people addicted to narcotic products.

    My solution?

I'd force the pharma companies to go private, buy back their outstanding stock, and then get the fucking vampires from the banks out of the drug business.

    Another fentanyl overdose:

Times are changing. These days, opioids are part and parcel of a night out on the town. Crazy stuff.

A friend’s elderly mother fell down some stairs and did severe damage to her back. She was put on opioids, began hallucinating and had no clue where she was. It looked like she was done for. Then they changed her over to cannabis and she was her usual bad-tempered self in no time.

I don't know if you have liquid gel ibuprofen in Canada but when I had an issue earlier this year I found it more effective than Vicodin.
