Wilfido Briñez considers himself lucky to live with the roar of electric generators outside his front door in Maracaibo, Venezuela's second largest city and ground zero for the nation's rolling blackouts.

Another glowing example of why socialism is such a failure of a system.

FOR An oil rich nation to have energy?s energy blackouts is rather sad, I thought the wonderful benefits of socialism would aliviate all of this once that fink market economy is replaced by a system where the offshore bank accounts of the leadership are well stocked.

I think you are confusing 'socialism' with 'corruption', as usual.

They don't see it as two different things.

They see guns and people as 2 different things... you know, the whole guns don't kill people, people kill people. Socialism isn't bad in itself, it's what people make of it that's bad. If we weren't so greedy and corrupt, it just might work.

Especially when a left wing government gets elected, overthrowing a right wing cleptocracy such as in Nicaragua.

My new favourite current events comedy, Patriot Act, has a great episode on the NRA.

Seems they meddle in US law, so exportation of guns isn't illegal. So guns get exported to Central America, which causes people to flee to the US, and fears about brown people fuel gun sales . . . and around it goes!

Socialism fails because it requires force to make it work.

And don't go confusing Scandinavian welfare programs with socialism because it pisses off the Scandinavians.

Minor alteration, just to note that those so quick to pick out the atrocities of socialism never have anything at all to say about capitalists destroying entire countries, or leaving entire generations worse off than their parents. Capitalism is the same as socialism in that it's really just a theory. Even Adam Smith, the original theorist of free markets, said the idea was only as good as the morals of the people in control of the system. And you really don't have to look very far to find those without any ethics at all who have no hesitation at all in using this system to harm as many others as they can.

Capitalism won by a landslide, and because of it the world is getting remarkably worse with every passing year. You can ask them to make a defense of that but they really don't care in the slightest, not about the world in general and certainly not about anyone who got ground into dust by the winners.

Capitalism doesn't work either. It's so voracious it will eventually consume itself.

That not the fault of Socialism, it's the fault of people.

When theory meets the reality formed by the collective human personality then theory always loses.
