Excellent and well-planned out hit job on Wernick. Wilson-Raybould has shown that there is nothing she won't do to expose the lies - including the questionable clandistine taping of a phone conversation.

Canada is a one party consent for recording. If you're part of the conversation, you can record it without informing the other person. Anyone who's boss is being a shitfuck should always be doing this.

But, here's a thought. When you're part of the Star Chamber you don't normally make tapes unless you intend to discredit or expose someone.

If she had these supposed ethics and scruples all along she would have chosen NOT participate in the Admiral Norman round table since by all accounts it was very similar to the SNC Lavalin one which violated the laws with regard to subverting justice,

But, for some reason she willingly did participate in that round table without taping the conversations and then when asked by the Admirals lawyers has refused to give any of the evidence she is in possession of and used the solicitor client privilege law to avoid doing what she's being applauded for now.

Lindsay Shepherd thinks it can also be a useful tool to protect yourself.

I'll give JWR credit for taking out Wernick, and maybe for torpedoing the Trudeau PMO altogether just from being smart enough to cover her own ass with the recordings, emails, etc.. The spectacle of the "most feminist PM ever!" getting nailed by some women in caucus that he screwed over or wanted to behave unethically on behalf of a corrupt Quebec mega-corporation is hilarious if nothing else. That showed that JWR was as uninterested as Trudeau in maintaining the independence and integrity of the trial system and much more interested in using it as another virtue-signalling/politically-correct weapon. That isn't the sort of person who should be overseeing a legal system, not if some ephemeral "social justice" is their main priority over the basic justice a trial is supposed to deliver.

1) Once again we have a conservative opinion column in the news section. Why do conservatives have such a hard time telling the difference between facts and opinions?

2) The article conveniently leaves out all reference to Wernick saying numerous times things like quote]

3) So JWR is saying PMO didn’t break the law with any of this but this is still very serious matter because it’s “inappropriate”. But when it comes to her secretly recording Wernick she says ‘it’s ok it’s not illegal just inappropriate’. Ironic?

I’m not saying JWR is wrong in her position but it’s obvious that the PMO didn’t think they were doing anything inappropriate and ultimately they wanted an outside legal opinion on the matter. This is about 2 competing interpretations if the law and “appropriateness” not someone trying to get away with shady dealings

You are right. It was never ordered because she never got the chance to tamper with the selection process which by her own statement following the verdict she had every intention of trying to do.
