Don Cherry's latest rant about the Carolina Hurricanes and their victory celebrations didn't go unnoticed by the NHL club. The Hurricanes even decided to embrace his words.
I saw his rant on HNIC on Saturday. I sure didn't expect to see the club make a t-shirt over it but I'm sure they'll sell lots of them just... because.
Since we have many hockey fans on this forum I thought I'd toss in a poll to see what you guys think.
IMO the stick salute to the fans is enough and the rest of it just seems a bit cheesy but then I guess there are those that like this sort of thing.

Agreed but then again I'm a proponent of the old Joe Paterno football adage about celebrations.

Not a fan of "scripted" celebrations in sports... but having said that, Cherry isn't the guy to go calling others jerks, since "being a jerk" is what he does for a living.
If the other team is off the ice then it shouldn't be an issue. It would be different if they were still around, like when the Flyers and Canadians had that bench-clearing brawl during a warm-up back in 1986 or 87 when that rat bastard Claude Lemieux began shooting pucks into the Flyers net as Philly was just going off the ice. Stunting like that, or silly little post-goal celebrations like Brian Propp used to do with some goofy hand-wave he did when he scored, is pretty insulting to do in hockey.

Time for Grapes to shuffle on to the old folks home.
