Anyone who still defends Trudope is part of the problem. This stopped being a partisan issue long ago. It has become a 'save our country' issue for EVERYONE.

So, in essence we now have the same party who took away our lifetime pensions creatively trying to find new and improved ways to screw us over, yet again and obviously succeeding magnificently.
If they implemented it, it's their policy.
If it makes you feel better about the Liberals, sure. But the reality is that all the Conservatives did was bow to the will of Parliament and implement a "previously passed" bill that was supported by every party. Like it or not the architects of this bill are still the Liberals who drafted it, fought for it and got it passed which is something they are continually trying to distance themselves from.
So, whether you think the Conservatives should have obeyed the will of Parliament or not it's still a Liberal bill that was implemented by a bunch of assholes who obviously never gave a second thought to the fact that they were ruining peoples lives, which isn't surprising since they didn't bother to think about that fact when they along with all their colleagues in Parliament voted for it in the first place.
We treat them badly.
It doesn’t matter which party is in power, it’s always the same. When I was appointed as the first military Ombudsman in 1998, veterans were asking for their own advocate too. No chance. Then Prime Minister Jean Chrétien was adamantly opposed.
This allowed the Conservatives to promise one in the 2005 election.
They followed through after winning the election and a Veterans Ombudsman’s was created. Unfortunately, they appointed former Toronto Police chief Julian Fantino to the Veterans Affairs portfolio. He was a flop. Opposition parties and veterans soon asked for his head.
Fantino appeared to show little empathy for soldiers suffering from mental health issues.
According to the Auditor General, despite $1.1 billion in lapsed funding for veterans’ programs the cash was promptly returned to the treasury. He closed regional offices which served as a lifeline to veterans needing help. Fantino was outright confrontational at times.
Remember that touchy meeting with veterans where, right before cameras, he ran away from the wife of a veteran who had pesky questions for him? It was quite the slight.
Prime Minister Paul Martin continued the trend of sticking it to our veterans by replacing government’s injured-soldier compensation plan that had been in place since the War of 1812 with a “veterans charter.” Instead of a proper pension, veterans would get one lump sum. Again, there was no public consultation.
In his election platform of 2015, Prime Minister Trudeau had lofty plans to buy veterans’ votes.
He said: “We’ll honour their past service and we’ll also help them secure a bright future.”
When the “Education Training Plan” came out in April 2018, it was rolled into an omnibus bill without any public consultation.
The plan was a gutted version of what was promised. It included all kinds of caveats and exclusions. It disqualified any veteran with less than six years of service. It was taxable and didn’t include a living allowance.
The latest slight to veterans, courtesy of Veterans Minister Seamus O’Regan is the return to pensions in a plan called Pensions for Life announced last week. Except that it’s not really a pension plan. The government is distributing the funds over time, instead of in a lump sum, saving $1.8 billion in the short term on the backs of soldiers.
Sean Bruyea, who over the years has become the unofficial veterans Ombudsman told me: “Over the past thirty years, Veterans Affairs bureaucrats isolated in Charlottetowne have been the puppet-masters of successive Ministers, most unwilling or unable to push back against the bureaucratic agenda that professes they care while saving money and doing meaningfully little for veterans and their families.”
What does the official, paid for by taxpayers Veterans Ombudsman Craig Dalton, appointed on Nov. 11, 2018, have to say about the new plan again passed without proper input and consultation? Crickets.

What? do we have to provide for 100% of these "Veterans" needs? Does 100% of our budget have to go to Canadians?

Harper had 10 years to change it and never did, and instead chose to implement it and then close bunch offices across the country, fight veterans in court over benefits and clawed back over $1 Billion from Veteran Affairs.

All I've seen over the past 20 years is that it doesn't matter which party is in office, Liberal or Conservative, they both screw veterans over and promise big on defence and then disappear when the bill arrives.
