The last Syrian town under the control of Islamic State fell on Friday, marking a defeat for the jihadists which will prove difficult to come back from.
ISIL/ ISIS might be defeated on the battle field but they're still a significant threat just as Al Qaeda and other Islamic Extremists Terrorist groups are.
"xerxes" said Sad but true. While their territory may be reclaimed and their fighters killed, their ideology still remains to live another day.

You're right but we can certainly mitigate the damage they can do by:
Not inviting them back to Canada after they commit atrocities in other countries;
Not inviting them to live in our country after they've show radical tendencies in other countries;
Not allowing Muslim religious leaders in Canada to radicalize the ignorant 12th century history loving Muslims in our own country;
Removing Muslim immigrants from our country when they become radicalized;
If, they're radicalized citizens put them in jails with reeducation programs and keep them their till they're deemed safe for release back into population,
And finally, stop bowing to their religious demands because no one religion should be granted any special privilege that is contrary to Canadian beliefs and morals and finally;
Withdraw completely from the UN Migration Pact and take back our right as a sovereign nation to decide who we accept into Canada as refugees, and immigrants.

Think it's just talks right now but ether way the United States Military will probably remain to make sure Afghanistan doesn't become a safe haven for Terrorist groups and to keep an eye on Pakistan.

and they had very little clue what they were taking on with AQ. They have reverted to being a xenophobic, tribal insurgency and would be difficult to distinguish from many of their local opponents on values, unfortunately.
Although the ISIS caliphate is gone, for now at least, the movement endures in Syria, Iraq and around the world. Trump’s false declaration of victory is merely an attempt to excuse his retreat from the field. What is most depressing is seeing the Kurds abandoned. The Turks are already bragging about wiping them out.
Is that monumental piece of dogshit Abu Al Bagdadi dead?
Nobody knows. The article suggests he could be trapped and hiding out in the badlands around Hajin.
Could be dead.
Could be living in a palace with Assad or Erdogan.

The Taliban are not allied to ISIS

We won against Japanese militarism, Italian Fascism, and National Socialism. All three were ideologies and all three were utterly defeated.
But you cannot defeat radical and fundamentalist Islam when our leaders are unwilling to call it out for what it is.
That's why we can't win is because we're not willing to win.
