Been there done that. The surest sigh of youth is that you don't understand consequences.
I used to do 100+ km/h with a pair of sticks strapped to my feet, and loved every minute of it. Till my girlfriend/fiancee wiped out doing a Giant Slalom, hit the trees and tore her ACL and dislocated a shoulder. Without a helmet, she'd have been Michael Schumacher.
That's when 'consequences' set it, and we both just started skiing recreationally again.
A lot of pressure to keep competing I'm sure.
