Katey Walter Anthony has studied some 300 lakes across the tundras of the Arctic. But sitting on the mucky shore of her latest discovery, the Arctic expert said she’d never seen a lake like this one.
Not nearly as frightening as those African lakes that fart 20 ft deep clouds of CO2 and whole villages smother in their sleep. Imagine being sent to investigate why no one is answering calls and driving through fields of dead cattle to find everyone there dead in their beds....
I wonder what it would be like to go for a swim
I would not.
If while you're swimming there's a significant-enough release of gas in the water around you then you'll lose buoyancy and find yourself drowning.
I'd be frightened too if a lake started hissing at me.
I wouldn't really start worrying until it starts to spit at you......
I wonder what it would be like to go for a swim
Light the methane on fire before going in... this heats up the water a bit and makes it more comfortable.
You know that methane is odourless, right?
I do. I was thinking more about the bubbles....
And I could fart with impunity whilst in the water, and you'd never know it was me...
Your smile would give it away!

Your smile would give it away!
That could be misleading.... I could be peeing!
And I could fart with impunity whilst in the water, and you'd never know it was me...
Ok Double l, now I remember where I've seen you before.
