With work set to begin Sept. 8, the goal is to complete the project before the onset of winter weather, according to Paradox Access Solutions, an Edmonton, Alta.-based company.

    The boys on the repair crews usually fly like the wind when the ground begins to firm up with the cold. All they need is a commitment from management to get the damn job done. A lot of people, from the feds through to that company of grifters they sold the line to, should be goddamn ashamed of themselves for letting the situation get this bad. That's something you'd see in a corruption-riddled disaster zone like Italy or one of those US counties that's falling apart because of austerity cuts. There's no excuse at all for what happened with the rail-line to Churchill.

    Murad Al-Katib, president and CEO of AGT, said the purchase of the line and port assets is an opportunity to develop an Arctic gateway.

    "We can't ignore the potential of the only rail link to an Arctic port in North America," Al-Katib said in an interview Saturday.

    "That gives the opportunity for this to be a natural resources corridor. And grain happens to be one of the abundant natural resources that we have in Western Canada," he added.


    Gee, besides wheat I wonder what other abundant natural resources that we have in Western Canada he might be talking about.
