He never served, but Veterans Affairs pays for convicted murderer's PTSD treatment

The decision by Veterans Affairs Canada to pay for treatment for a Halifax man who never served in the military and got PTSD from murdering an off-duty police officer is upsetting both an advocate for veterans and a family member of the officer.

I'm beyond apoplectic. This is an utter fucking travesty and shows just how much our Gov't and the judicial system really cares about Canadian Veterans. We have veterans living on the street and the Gov't is now giving their money out to murderers.

Here's the qualification for PTSD according to Veterans Affairs and it doesn't include civilians suffering from the trauma.

    http://www.veterans.gc.ca/eng/services/ ... ptsd#consi

Also, he shouldn't qualify under the disabled dependents of Veterans because he wasn't a disabled dependent.................. until some idiot decided he was.

The VA pension also benefits dependents and survivors. For instance, a surviving spouse of a veteran is eligible for an Aid and Attendance benefit of up to $1,055 a month. In addition, like with compensation, minor children and adult children who became disabled before age 18 can be eligible for pension benefits

What really pisses me off is that line
The court heard his father, who had served in the Canadian Forces, also has PTSD, and that getting treatment for his son helps them both.

That is utter bullshit. His father likely won't see the murderous bastard again and claiming that it helps them both is a copout by Veterans affairs so they can give out even more money for treatment earmarked for Veterans to people who have no right to it. Good thing he wasn't a terrorist though or he might just have gotten a very large settlement to go with the treatment.

But a question. Don't they have mental health treatment in prison and if yes it begs the question. Why is Veterans Affairs paying for this murderers treatment while in prison ?

Sounds like Veterans Affairs has PTSD.

    Have you considered claiming PTSD?

    Maybe I should.

If this Gov't can pay for the PTSD treatments of civilian murders rather than vet's living on the streets with mental health issues, I'm sure they can now afford to pay for mental health therapy for "ALL" us veterans who require or request it.

But, we all know that isn't going to happen because, it'd cost the Liberal Gov't money earmarked for much more important things like, the retraining of poor misguided ISIS fighters who need to be rehabilitated.

Besides, we all know that the military and Veterans rank lower than whale shit on the ocean floor when it comes to proper funding from Trudeau and his friends. So, given this latest revelation, unless you're a terrorist, ISIS fighter or convicted murderer chances of getting one red cent out of Trudeau and his band of SJW's is just a pipe dream.

    Remember this promise?

"This is about doing right by people who have offered everything in service of our country." ROTFL

I have PTSD, can I get the government to pay for my Treatment?

Not serious, I do have PTSD, but I deal with it. What a disgrace. The guy should be put down like the wild animal he is.
