U.S. President Donald Trump declares that he has the "absolute right" to pardon himself, but adds he has done nothing wrong, asserting his presidential power as the White House sharpens its political and legal defences against the special counsel's Russia
Let's be realistic here, this is the same thing dictators like Putin and Duarte have done - made themselves immune from the law. And people don't seem to see through it!
Every dictionary will be using this as an example of "contradiction".
This could be why he's saying this because the Obama Administration danced around with the subject back in 2015 as a 'testing the waters' notion (which is just fine because they were just gauging public opinion) and I think Trump is looking to close any further questions on this topic.
Meaning he won't be doing this.
Got a link for that claim?
Got a link for that claim?
That's the thing - you need to search "Obama pardon himself" and you'll find a cluster of referenced stories in 2015. Nothing specific but just the number of such stories from political wonk groups would indicate that someone official was floating the idea.
And, again, there's nothing wrong with floating ideas. That's a normal practice.
Trump claims. Trump says. Trump tweets. Deeds speak louder than words. The guy's an incessant windbag. The whole sh-bang is just comedy theatre, a reality show made real.
He's a showman, entertainer, and a populist.
And people like that.

Total nonsense.
Right-wing nutjob websites floated the idea...along with him admitting to be from Kenya.

When called upon, the onus is on you to back up your statements.

That article references Ted Cruz's paper that was published by Harvard University...hardly a right-wing nutjob website.
Here's the paper:

Note that Cruz is being called out for 'forgetting' his documented opinion on the matter.
Also note that the issue was circa 2015.
By the way, my original comment wasn't making an accusation I was just citing an anecdotal observation.
If that somehow makes your day by saying I didn't back up something I never intended to back up in the first place then so be it.

Your right. What was that famous Trump quote about one being born every minute?

Some do, some don't. I think Trump getting elected sh9ows a disturbing level of cynicism with the political process in the US--and that cynicism, I think, has been well earned. And I think politics as theatre will prove corrosive over time and diminish the status of the US. The power of the US would diminish globally anyway with the resurrection of Russia and the rise of China--factors it has little control over.
That's why I think Trump was America's Nero moment.

Trump was how a large segment of America said "FUCK YOU!!!" to the leftist elites.
And we've now inspired and emboldened people to do the same in a growing number of countries in Europe.
