From her hospital bed in Toronto transplant unit, Indigenous rights advocate Delilah Saunders says she's both 'grateful and outraged' by her experiences since being denied a liver transplant for having a history of alcohol use.

    Best friend had a liver transplant, drank it away & needed another. He decided the trouble he'd put himself and family through was too much to do it again, and passed away.

    When my wife called (we'd separated) and told me she was so happy she'd had the chance to get shitfaced one last time with him, I filed the divorce papers next day. She ended up drinking herself to death a couple years later.
