    Well that's a damn shame.

But this subversive horsecrap of letting Russians compete without flag or anthemn, that's just sick.

Shame on the IOC, but not surprising to expect any different.

Yeah that’s weird exemption for Russian athletes to use. But I fully expect them to go for it. After all, Russian soldiers have been in Ukraine under the same pretenses for a few years now.

This Olympics is taking a step closer to being a complete joke though.

No Russia, no NHL. Is it this Olympics or the next summer one where they're going to let men compete as women? Seems to me, I heard that someplace.

The Russians have been doing that for years in the strength sports.

Probably one of your crigne right wing blogs.

As to the no NHL, I can see why that was done as much as us fans will be pissed off (myself included). The Olympics are supposed to be amateur athletes competing, not professionals making money. There’s no Biathalon Premier League or National Curling League where the players all make a lot of money. So why should this one sport be different?

The Olympics are reportedly adopting a new policy that opens the field of competition to transgender athletes.

The International Olympic Committee received proposed guidelines in November from its 'Consensus Meeting on Sex Reassignment and Hyperandrogenism', which allow for broader policies that would include transgender athletes.

Olympic officials have not confirmed the new guidelines, which have already been adopted by other regulatory sports organizations, but the policy is available on the organization's website.

    Then there's this:

(CNN)New Zealand athlete Laurel Hubbard recently won the Australian International weightlifting competition, and made history in the process. For one, she set a new national record for the women's "clean and jerk," an achievement she hopes will put her on the path to the 2020 Summer Olympic Games.

She also became the first transgender woman to represent New Zealand at such an event -- a detail that has drawn praise and criticism.

For critics, the big wrinkle here lies somewhere between her margin of victory -- the second-place finisher lifted about 41 pounds (19 kg) less than her -- and the fact that Hubbard competed as a man before her transition.

How long before they have Fallon Fox beating up girls at the Olympics, I wonder.

    Oh, and Xerxes...

The truth only makes Progs cringe. The rest of us are fine with it.

You should watch "Icarus" on Netflix. Their cheating was not only blatant, but state sponsored.

They reap what the Kremlin has sown.

Sorry, but I think it's great the Russkies got banned. It's about damn time the IOC grew a spine and stood up to those cheating bastards. They've been getting away with everything for far too long.

Lance Armstrong told me I don't have to.

I have learned enough over the years; 'we' are no better, except in covering it up.

The Olympics have been going downhill for many years now. If it's not athletes doping it's judges being bribed or some other bullshit. It's not about the actual sports anymore. It's just a different political stage where greed and power rule.

This doesn't go far enough. All athletes from Russia should have been banned.

FWIW, the Olympics have been a joke for years.

Coming soon, Olympic competition not based on nations but by big Pharma companies.

The IOC needs to be disbanded they're more crooked than Russia. The Summer, Winter games should be held at two permanent venues so countries don't go bankrupt for two weeks of glory.

Thanks to doping I've won just as many Tour de France races as Lance Armstrong!
