"Trey Parker, a co-creator of the Comedy Central staple "South Park," says the next season of the not-for-children cartoon is going to be scaling back on political humor, according to an interview with the Los Angeles Times...
“We probably could put up billboards — 'Look what we’re going to do to Trump next week!' — and get crazy ratings. But I just don’t care,” said Parker, who created the show with longtime collaborator Matt Stone.
Parker, who voices a character in the new film "Despicable Me 3," added that he doesn’t think Trump is trying to be funny, but he uses “comedic art” to make headlines and get the attention that won him the election.
“The things that we do — being outrageous and taking things to the extreme to get a reaction out of people — he’s using those tools. At his rallies he gets people laughing and whooping,” he said.
"South Park's" 21st season is set to premiere in August.
