The streets of Las Vegas and Phoenix have been reduced to ghost towns as temperatures hit 118F and climbing during a punishing heat wave that has grounded planes.

I find this one is interesting, because the NHL draft is in Vegas on the weekend. The expansion draft, drafting players for the new Las Vegas hockey team is today. I imagine we'll be getting weather reports on sportsnet.

If there was a little more garbage/debris on those streets in those photos, it'd look like the Walking Dead!

I had never considered the effect extreme heat would have on aircraft.

Canadian made aircraft, can't take the heat.

Must be designed for domestic weather patterns.

We definitely do not need heat like that north of the border, anything more than 30°C (86°F) is much up here IMO.

Yeah, 30C is about my limit too. I never have been a sun-worshipper type of person anyway.

It's like fracking August here already, over 30. And it's going to get hotter by the weekend.. a lot hotter.

The man who invented air conditioning, I would kiss his bony ass. :)

    No shit.
Had to go to Alberta to see any summer at all last year. Supposed to get up to room temperature here by the weekend!

Willis Carrier if I'm not mistaken. Invented it to take the humidity out of his factory.
